Bainbridge Independent has a beautiful new teaching/learning space in the Coppertop Business Park (previously Island Children's Montessori). The space is set up to host small to medium size groups such as Math Circle meetings, math contests, parent meetings, Destination Imagination team practices and Destination Imagination workshops. The 1800 square foot space will accommodate approximately 48 students along with a facilitator, teen mentors, and adult mentors.
The Bainbridge Independent AMazing Math Circle focuses on advanced topics for students who are curious about mathematical logic and reasoning. The BI AMazing Math Circle sponsors a middle school math team. Team members develop the skills to succeed in middle school level math contests and competitions.
I just wanted to give you a big, HUGE shout-out to tell you how much we appreciate all you've done for our children. Your passion and dedication to math and beyond has been such a gift to our community. Specifically, this year has been THE year for taking our son to the level he wants/needs to be. It's been such an incredible growth year.
Thank you!
Thank you for making math a sport! You have infused energy and enthusiasm into math education, and created many cohorts of kids who feel connected in areas of strength. You've made outstanding academic ability something to be celebrated and supported. You are the energy and driving force helping us all be our best, for the sake of our kids.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
Our Family can't thank you enough for all you have done for us.
Thank you.
What about Math Clubs at Sakai?
For the 2014-15 school year, the the BISD is providing Math TOSA and math teacher support to set up, staff, and run the new M3 math club to provide a group of Sakai students with math challenge and math enrichment and to familiarize Sakai teachers with web-based math programs and math problem solving activities. This new club will take place in the Sakai library on Friday mornings.
Sakai is matching up volunteers and participants for a new Math Competition Club for Math O and Math is Cool. Please check with Amii Pratt at Sakai for information on this new club.

Math Club History
The Bainbridge Independent Math Club met in the Sakai library on Friday mornings from 7:30 AM to 8:30 AM in the 2012-13 and the 2013-14 school years. The club was open to motivated 5th and 6th grade students who were interested in mathematical reasoning and problem solving and who were enrolled in the Bainbridge Independent EPGY Math Challenge and/or who did EPGY Math on a school sponsored account.
Club activities included online math with EPGY and preparation for individual and team contests such as AMC 8, Math League, Math is Cool, Math Kangaroo, MOEMS Math Olympiad, and the WSMC Math Olympiad. Participants also had opportunities for hands-on math activities, math games, and visits from math and science professionals.
The math club maintained a 1:4 ratio of mentors to students. Students were grouped by ability and matched up with compatible mentors. The atmosphere was collaborative rather than competitive.
